This is not good news.

Foot and mouth outbreak

The last time this happened all the footpaths were closed, dog walking was very difficult. (Which is not to belittle the suffering and slaughter of thousands of farm animals and the ruin of many farmers' livelyhoods).

Oh poo.

I read it today on a forum. (Land Rovers as it happens).

Not good is it? Let's hope it is contained....

Actually we were living in Newcastle the last time it happened.

I second that. The prospect of having to keep the doggit on a lead when out and about does not fill me with joy! Leicestershire is very much an agricultural county so in the last outbreak it was quite horrible to see bare hillsides where there had been cattle and sheeps a-grazing. And some of our favourite Ws involve fields with cloven-hooved beasties... mind you, at least we only have the one, small hyperactive dog-thing, not a handful of lurchers!!
